The Bible Society has started looking for a new owner of the Christian Resources Exhibition (CRE). The 12th-13th October 2016 show in Maidstone, in Kent, is the last under Bible Society’s management, and the society is inviting anyone interested in acquiring the exhibition to contact the organisation.
Following Bible Society’s acquisition of CRE in 2008, the exhibition has continued to provide for churches a wide range of resources. CRE’s seminar programme has also helped people engage with issues and resources.
Derek Hill, director of Bible Society Resources Limited, said: ‘CRE has just completed a successful show at ExCel London with approximately 7,000 visitors and 300 exhibitors. The exhibition makes a significant contribution to the life of the church, across all denominations. As part of the review of Bible Society’s strategy, we have stepped back and re-evaluated our activity’.
He said the reason for making this decision was the need for Bible Society to focus on growing the effectiveness of its global Bible mission. ‘It is with a heavy heart we have decided to seek a new custodian for CRE. We are grateful to CRE’s exhibitors and visitors who have worked with us over the last eight years, and the small staff team that have made it all happen. They have achieved a great deal and the business is in good shape’.
In 2014 CRE celebrated its 30th year, and, last year, the international exhibition was relocated from Sandown Racecourse to ExCel London.
