International – Moon landings

April 2016

San Francisco based funeral firm Elysium Space has developed a way of transporting your cremated remains to be laid to rest on the moon.

Last year, the firm developed its ‘Lunar memorial’, in which 1 gram of a person’s ashes will be privately dispatched to the moon in a small box, for $11,950 (£8,080). According to CNBC, the service was launched in August, after clinching a contract with space logistics company Astrobotic Technology.

The first batch of ashes will hitch a ride on Astrobotic’s inaugural lunar mission, which the space logistics firm told CNBC it hopes to launch in the second half of 2017.
