Cathy Madavan and Rev. Cris Rogers, both members of the Spring Harvest planning group, are to visit Liberia, Africa, in December to see the distribution of gift-packed shoeboxes from the UK.
This is part of Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan’s Purse project that aims to provide children across the world with a shoebox of small presents to open on Christmas Day.
In a statement, the charity has called on everyone to take part in this year’s Operation Christmas Child ‘One In A Million’ campaign, as reaching more than 11 million children with Christmas joy takes a massive, year-round global effort.
Simon Barrington, UK executive director for Samaritan’s Purse, said, ‘Already the response of people getting involved in Operation Christmas Child this year has been overwhelming.
‘However, we need many more people to be “one in a million” and lovingly pack a shoebox for a child in need this Christmas and show them that someone cares and is thinking about them’.
Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered gift-filled shoeboxes to more than 124 million children in more than 150 countries.
