The Free Church of Scotland (FCoS) has partnered with the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC) to offer a new training course at Edinburgh Theological Seminary (ETS).
According to Andy Hunter, Scotland director for the FIEC and co-leader of the course with Ian Shaw, director of Langham Scholars UK, the course will help students gain a new ETS certificate in Independent Church Ministry.
Mr Hunter said he was excited about the partnership, adding: ‘We are passionate about training men and women to be equipped for gospel ministry in independent churches and we are really pleased this vision has taken a significant step forward in Scotland.
‘We recognise ETS as a provider of excellent theological training, which, along with other Scottish training providers, can help people from independent churches get the kind of biblical training vital for the future health of their churches’.
Iver Martin, principal at ETS, said, ‘Whatever ecclesiastical differences exist between our churches, in the major issues we speak the same language, recognising the supreme and final authority of the Bible.
‘This partnership between ETS and FIEC is an important milestone in recognising and acting upon our shared vision for the gospel in Scotland’.
