Nigeria: Port Harcourt News

June 2015 | by Ani Ekpo

Port HarcourtThe seminary and day school of Christ’s Reformed Baptist Church, Port Harcourt, reopened on 12 January. We had up to 30 new intake to the seminary, and many students and pupils joined the school.

The Sunday school reopened on 18 January, with Maciek Stolarski from Grace Baptist Church Southport, UK, as our guest. He spoke on the 2015 Sunday school motto text (Romans 5:1), sent to us from the Metropolitan Tabernacle, London. The attendance that day was 280 children and 40 teachers, with their assistants.

We held a seminar on understanding the book of Isaiah for preaching and teaching. Mr Stolarski was our guest for this. The seminar ran from 19-21 January and, as in other years, was well attended.

Many testified of blessing received from the teaching. Pray that all who came may be enabled to make good use of the teaching, to help their churches come to the knowledge of the truth.

During the first quarter of 2015, our church also organised a prayer conference on ‘Spiritual revival blessings’. It gave opportunity to our church leaders to exercise their teaching gifts, speaking on such topics as ‘What is revival?’, ‘Why do we need revival?’ and ‘Historical examples of revival’. We joined to pray for a true spiritual revival in Africa, beginning with Nigeria, a place of Charismatic confusion.
