Social workers have targeted Christian parents with claims of cult practices and smacking, in order to take away their adopted children, campaign group Christian Concern has warned.
Andrea Williams, chief executive of Christian Concern, said, ‘We are seeing a worrying trend whereby Christian parents are being treated with suspicion because of their faith’.
Her comments came after a Christian couple claimed their adopted children have been taken into care based on false allegations.
The couple claimed they are being persecuted for their religious beliefs by social workers. According to Ms Williams, in one case, social workers accused the parents of causing emotional abuse with their strict parenting methods, which included smacking a child’s hand and punishing children for swearing by putting soap on their lips.
