The Bible by the Beach event at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne, on England’s south coast, played host to nearly 1000 delegates over the May bank holiday weekend.
Dr Liam Goligher, senior minister at Tenth Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, US, led three Bible readings around the theme of true humanity. Other main meeting speakers included Ian Coffey, Paul Gardner and Andrew Wilson.
Action-packed children’s and youth ministries, catering for 0-18 year olds, meant there was something for all ages to enjoy and there were more children present than ever before. The conference’s seaside location also allowed visitors to make the most of the sunny weather.
Conservative MP for Enfield Southgate, David Burrowes, gave a seminar on ‘The secret diary of a Christian MP’, where he encouraged Christians to be more politically engaged. Other seminars covered medical ethics, parenting and the doctrine of man.
Andy Fenton from Music Ministry led worship in the main sessions and Lou Fellingham performed a special one-off concert on Saturday evening.
Bishop Wallace Benn said, ‘There’s something wonderful to be said about Christians getting together for celebratory events and seeing a bigger picture than just the local congregation’.
Next year’s event from 1-4 May is themed ‘The mission of God: to the ends of the earth’. Richard Pratt, Andy Hawthorne and Roger Carswell will be speakers.
