On Saturday 18 January, there was a service of thanksgiving at West Park. Church members, accompanied by guests and friends from as far afield as Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Wiltshire, recalled and rejoiced in God’s goodness to the church, particularly during the three-and-a-half years since Ian Harrison, the previous minister, stood down from the ministry.
During that period many faithful men had come to preach, with former minister Gareth Crossley providing consecutive ministry and support for 15 months.
In addition to being blessed and built up by excellent preaching and teaching, the church continued to run its programme of events and regular activities throughout this period.
The church prayed and searched for a new minister to join the eldership, and God answered the prayers of his people by sending Andrew Whitehead to come among us, with his wife Karen and four sons, commencing in December 2013.
