Poverty fight

November 2013

The new Bishop of Durham designate has underlined his commitment to the fight against poverty.
Rt Rev. Paul Butler, currently Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, and a former worker with UCCF and the Scripture Union, said that, during his tenure, he will support such things as food banks and credit unions.
His priorities include a commitment to children and young people, church growth and tackling poverty. He said, ‘These are important issues for all communities, but never more so than here in the North East today. Tackling poverty together must be a priority’.
