Sex education

April 2013

Lobby group the Campaign to Protect Children (C2PC) has been invited to meet with the Bishop of Oxford on 29 April to discuss the way that sexual education is being taught in schools.

The campaign group, which was launched in November 2012, has stated its aim as being ‘to make today’s disastrous schools’ sex and relationships education policies (SRE) a general election issue and to press for the urgent acceptance of better classroom resources that emphasise moral considerations and the value of family life’.

The forthcoming meeting, which has been arranged by Canon Chris Sugden, has been called since the bishop has under his jurisdiction CofE primary and secondary schools.

In a statement, a spokesman for the group said, ‘Our brief is to highlight alternative materials to replace the current secular humanist materials used by sexual rights activists’.

The spokesman said that Lovewise is one such Christian group that it will recommend. It has also asked Christians to pray that the Lord will give direction ‘on how to bring the C2PC to gain national attention to the dangers of SRE’.
