A Newcastle hotel has replaced traditional hard-copy Bibles in guest rooms with Kindles pre-loaded with an electronic version.
According to an MSNBC news report, the Hotel Indigo in Newcastle has gone digital across its 148 rooms, and guests can request a copy of the Kindle for the duration of their stay.
Adam Munday, hotel general manager, said guests were allowed to download other religious texts as long as prices stayed below £5.
The plan is to see how successful the pre-loaded Kindles are. The parent company, InterContinental Hotels Group, will then decide whether to put Kindles in more of the chain’s 44 hotels worldwide.
