Another leading minister in the Free Church of Scotland has tendered his resignation, following that Church’s decision, in 2010, to allow congregations to sing hymns instead of metrical psalms only.
Rev. Donald Macdonald, from Lewis, has preached for nearly 47 years and has been a past moderator of the Free Church. However, following the vote, he has written to the Western Isles presbytery resigning in protest at the introduction of hymns into church services.
It is understood that Mr Macdonald is to join the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Scotland, which recently set up a congregation in Stornoway.
