Bible by the beach
A record 1200 Christians flocked to Eastbourne this May for a weekend of teaching, worship and fellowship at Bible by the Beach – an annual conference set up by Rt Rev. Wallace Benn, Bishop of Lewes.
His concern was to provide thoughtful Bible teaching, with the Holy Spirit applying it to people’s hearts in a way that changes their lives, churches and families.
The theme was ‘Glory in the cross’ and the main speaker Alastair Begg, from Parkside Church,
One seminar on Sunday was taken by Andrea Minichiello Williams of Christian Concern for our Nation, who spoke on how Christians and Christianity are being marginalised in society. She said, ‘It’s time to say “not on my watch” and in love and grace speak the truth to a broken and heartbroken society’.
The worship was led by Stuart Townend with Lou Fellingham and her band Phatfish; and there were also children and young people’s seminars and events, including a worship service on the Sunday.
Next year’s Bible by the Beach will be on ‘Resurrection people’ and will be held on the first bank holiday in May (www.biblebythebeach.org).
