Online gaming

Parentline Plus has launched a series of top tips for parents whose children may be addicted to online gaming.

It has created a microsite, www.gotateenager.org.uk/onlinegaming, that it hopes will help parents develop strategies to tackle this phenomenon. Tips include having the computer in a public room, checking the content of a game before its purchase and coming to an agreement with children about time limits.

Jeremy Todd, chief executive of Parentline Plus, said, ‘We recognise that parents with teenagers can find it difficult to cope at times and online gaming can lead to conflict within families if agreements about usage are not made and adhered to.’
