Botched abortion

A baby aborted, at the Rossano Calabro hospital in Italy, after 22 weeks struggled to live for two days after the operation to remove it from the womb.

Father Antonio Martello, a priest who was praying over the baby’s form, discovered that the baby was still breathing 48 hours after the abortion.

The baby had been aborted simply because the mother discovered it had a cleft lip and palate. In Italy, legal abortions are allowed up to 24 weeks, but only in specific circumstances such as disability.

However, the doctors not only botched the operation but failed to perform their duty to support children that survive a termination.

According to Associated Press, the Italian government has pledged an inquiry and police are investigating the case for homicide.
