Christian Worship

The long-awaited new Christian Worship hymnbook has now been published. With more than half the first print run sold prior to publication, the publishers have been greatly encouraged. The book continues to sell well.

The result of almost five years work, there is a Words edition (words only, no tunes) and a Tunes edition (tunes only, no words). Containing a complete metrical psalter, more than 1,000 traditional hymns (including many Scripture paraphrases), and over 1,000 tunes, this is a major contribution to evangelical hymnody. A double CD set of 24 psalms and hymns from Christian Worship sung by the Wesley Singers of Llanidloes is also available.

Christian Worship is published by the Christian Worship Publishing Trust chaired by Neil Pfeiffer, and including Jeremy Brooks, Roland Burrows, Stephen Ford, Dewi Higham, David Kay, John Thackway and well-known hymn-writer Vernon Higham.

The book’s preface states that, ‘In all the decisions taken, we have sought to unite rather than divide. For those of our brethren who want a book of a significantly different ethos, there are such available on the market.

‘However, for those unhappy with other recent offerings, we have sought to produce a book that is clear about its parameters, but within which it seeks to be as broad, representative and biblically ecumenical as possible’.
