West Bradford Community Church

On 20 September, West Bradford Christian Fellowship was constituted as West Bradford Community Church – a multicultural Evangelical Baptist congregation in Manningham, Bradford, about a mile north of the city centre. Erroll Hulse was preacher at the inaugural service.

The congregation meets for worship at 3.00pm each Sunday in the premises of Westgate Baptist Church, by kind permission. This is in Carlisle Road (BD8 8BY), only about 500 yards from where the riot of July 2001 took place.

James Howgego and Nathan Javed are leading the new work, which is being supported by Hall Green Baptist Church, Haworth – a church that is pastored by Michael Lockwood.

The weekly congregation averages thirty people, including Pakistani, Eastern European, African and English believers. This makes for a great
variety of backgrounds, cultures and traditions, but all loving the Lord and his amazing gospel of grace in Jesus Christ.

This church plant has been in progress for three years. The area surrounding Westgate is now predominantly Muslim, a mission field come to the UK.
