Bridgend

Litchard Mission Church in Bridgend was filled to capacity, with the schoolroom used as an overflow, for the induction of the new pastor Rev. Malcolm Thomas on 17 January. Malcolm and his wife Jayne have accepted the call back to Wales, having been living in the north-east of England. Malcolm is originally a local boy from the nearaby town of Bettws.

The members of Litchard Mission were joined by many from other churches and a large number of friends and family who had travelled
from across the country to support us on this day of new beginnings.

The preacher was Malcolm’s brother Rev. Mark Thomas, who is a Baptist Union pastor in Bridgend. The congregation witnessed his charge to Malcolm and the church, having heard the history of the call from both church and pastor’s perspective. All were encouraged to hear how God had been working to bring us together. Mr Oswald Penry, senior elder at the church performed the act of induction.

Following the service a meal was provided by the church with a wonderful time of fellowship enjoyed by all.

Malcolm had spoken at a service prior to the call on continuing our calling as a mission church – to be active in serving God and proclaiming the gospel in our locality. Since the induction, he has begun a series on the holiness of God.

Please pray for Rev. Thomas, Jayne and the fellowship, as together we move forward under God – that we would serve God and proclaim his grace and mercy faithfully.
