New pastor for Warboys

The sun shone from cloudless skies all day – to the relief of those using the church garden for a buffet meal. The occasion was the induction of Nigel Graham to the pastorate of Warboys Grace Baptist Church, Cambridgeshire, on Saturday 15 September. We were particularly encouraged by the presence of friends from all over the UK and further afield.

Alan Taylor, the interim moderator, chaired the meeting. He introduced Nigel and his wife Rebecca and their three children – Jack, Jessica and Priscilla – and interviewed them briefly about life so far in Warboys.

Philip Eveson, principal of London Theological Seminary (where Nigel has been studying for the last two years), spoke on behalf of the seminary and of Kensit Evangelical Church. He then read from 1 Thessalonians 1, remarking that he knew of no better description of pastoral ministry.

Jonathan Wood, pastor of Whittlesey Grace Baptist Church, and Dan Schwier, elder at Warboys, gave the history of the call. Nigel responded by outlining God’s leading in his life and reading out his declaration of commitment to the church. This was followed by the induction proper.

David White, recently retired pastor of North Preston Evangelical Church and Nigel’s pastor for 16 years, then preached from Amos. He spoke with passion on the need to live and minister in the light of God’s coming judgement. Nigel closed the service in prayer.

It was a solemn yet thoroughly joyful occasion, and a delight to be present.
