Southern Cross Evangelical Church

Celebrations took place on Saturday 10 June at Southern Cross Evangelical Church, Trafalgar Road, in Portslade, to mark 100 years of worship in the current building.
One of the guest speakers was Celia Barlow, MP for Portslade and Hove, who spoke of the church being an important part of community life. The preacher was Paul Mallard. He spoke from Psalm 66 on the awesomeness of God.
The church was full to capacity and included a lady of 103 years who returned for the celebrations; she had been in the church’s Sunday school.
Leaders from a number of local churches were represented, including the Arabic Evangelical Church with whom Southern Cross has the privilege of sharing fellowship. Old friendships were renewed and new ones formed.
