Talking Bibles

October 2006

Talking Bibles International, based in California, has sent 1000 new digital, solid-state Talking Bibles to the Bible Society in Malawi, Africa. The company believes these are the first digital Talking Bibles available in Africa.

The Talking Bibles have a special arrangement of Scripture passages from the Old Testament as well as the entire New Testament in the Chichewa language. For the first time, non-readers who speak Chichewa will have an easy to use, digital talking Bible in their own language.

Organizers from the Bible Society of Malawi arranged for the dedication of the Chichewa First Audio Bible at the stadium in Blantyre, Malawi. The launch formed part of the inauguration of the society’s Bible Week at the Kamuzu Stadium in the city.
