Hundreds of thousands of South African Christians gathered for a prayer meeting in Bloemfontein in April 2017 to pray for the country.
According to a report from South African news agency Eyewitness News (EWN), the organisers of the ‘It’s Time’ prayer meeting had been expecting at least 1.7 million people to attend.
Well known evangelist Angus Buchan held the meeting on the Wilde Als farm, just outside the city on a Saturday, which saw hundreds of people setting up camp on the farm on Friday in anticipation of the mass gathering.
The report stated how local traffic authorities reported 200,000 cars were already recorded moving into the city early on Saturday morning, although the exact figures were not yet known.
Free State traffic spokesperson Kabelo Moloabi told EWN, ‘This gathering is the first of its kind in Bloemfontein. I’d like to commend the road users for their behaviour. We’ve had no unruly behaviour from road users’.
