More than 30 ministry wives gathered in May at Holland House in Worcestershire for a special retreat organised by the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).
Jane McNabb from The Slade Church in London was the main speaker and her three talks were based on Matthew 6: ‘Live for your Father,’ ‘Delight in your Father’ and ‘Ask your Father’.
It was an opportunity for spiritual refreshment and relaxation for ministry wives as they took time away from their busy schedules. One of those present was Kay Kinnaird from Bankhall Mission Church in Bootle, Liverpool. She said: ‘Jane McNabb spoke with conviction, drawing from her many years of experience serving both in and outside of the home.
‘What joy to be reminded that our Father in heaven who has kissed us and clothed us gives us permission to approach him’. She said she left the retreat ‘with a full and glad heart’.
Elisabeth Smyth, women’s ministry co-ordinator for the FIEC, commented: ‘As the wives began to arrive at Holland House, my first impression was of the diversity of ages.
‘It was great to welcome women from large churches and small churches; rural locations and city centres; long-established fellowships and church plants; many years in ministry and just starting out. It’s my prayer the relationships formed on this retreat will be long-lasting and fruitful ministry friendships’.
