Millennials and young people who no longer attend church regularly are tuning into Christian radio programmes more frequently than ever, according to research.

The survey, carried out by ComRes among UK adults on behalf of Premier, found those aged between 18 and 35 make up the largest proportion of those tuning into its radio station.

Despite remaining the hardest-to-reach group for the Church of England, according to recent reports the so-called millennial generation now makes up 52 per cent of people regularly listening to Premier Christian Radio, Premier Gospel and Premier Praise.

Premier Christian Radio presenter Justin Brierley said that, while the UK’s increasingly secular and materialistic society is failing to deliver satisfaction and younger people are ‘suspicious of organised religion and church’, the millennial generation was still searching.
