After several years without a pastor, there was much rejoicing at Newquay Reformed Baptist Church as Josh Williamson was inducted to the pastorate.
The chapel soon filled as Christians from a variety of churches throughout Cornwall came together to give thanks to the Lord for his provision.
Pastor Williamson is originally from Australia and has spent many years in evangelistic and pastoral ministry.
Most recently, he served as the interim pastor at Samford Baptist Church in Brisbane, Queensland. From there, he was formally sent out as a missionary to serve in Newquay.
The service was led by Patrick Buckley of Truro Evangelical Church, who has also been acting as Moderator for Newquay Baptist.
Paul Mitchell of Grace to You Europe preached from Ephesians 4 on the role of the pastor and the duties of the congregation.
Pastor Williamson shared his sense of calling to Newquay and his desire to serve Christ and his church.
He said, ‘My desire is to see the Lord Jesus exalted through the church being strengthened and the lost reached.
‘As an outsider to this country, I do not want people to think that I am coming here with the mindset that I can save the UK. I can’t.
‘But I can point to the only Saviour able to rescue sinners. Him I’ll proclaim, and by God’s grace we will see Christ bring many to repentance and faith.’
