Worshippers in the UK have experienced some of the most severe restrictions on public worship anywhere in Europe, according to a report.
The European Centre for Law and Justice looked at worship restrictions across Europe. The UK – together with Ireland, France, and Belgium – had the most severe rules.
The Centre reported, ‘It appears from the study of more than 40 European countries that, in the vast majority of them, religious services are authorised, subject to compliance with health rules.’
It added, ‘Some countries, such as Spain, Poland or the Netherlands, have never prohibited public worship, even during the first lockdown.’
