In February, the Crown Christian Heritage Trust hosted an online Winter Retreat in lieu of the usual in-person event held annually at Cefn Lea, Wales.

The week consisted of testimonies, singing, and preaching.

Bible teaching and training sessions were given in four different categories: the Christian home, apologetics, local church resources, and strengthening the inner man.

Ministers from England, Northern Ireland, Canada, and the USA gave valuable spiritual guidance. Speakers included Derrick Morlan (Oxford), James Zenker (USA), and Kendall Wadley (Canada).

The overall theme of the four-day event was Stayed upon Jehovah, taken from Isaiah 26:3 – ‘Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.’

Amid current fears and uncertainties, it was a fitting theme to embolden Christians. True peace only comes when we are truly focused upon God, trusting his work to be done in our lives.

Being entirely online, the Crown Christian Heritage Trust was unsure how the Winter Retreat would be organised and received. However after much prayer the planning and preparations were undertaken.

As with the virtual Camp Victory for young people – held in the summer of 2020 – God worked through the online Winter Retreat ‘exceeding abundantly above’ what was asked, thought or imagined. By the end, over 200 people representing five different countries had booked the course.

How stirring to know that, even by means of an online portal via Facebook, YouTube, and Zoom, God’s Word is still able to change lives.

The Crown Christian Heritage Trust looks forward to hosting an in-person Winter Retreat next year, God-willing, at Cefn Lea. The planned theme for Winter Retreat 2022 is Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory.

Until we are able to meet in person for events such as this once more, may we seek to be filled with true joy by being ‘Stayed Upon Jehovah’ throughout this year and all it brings.
