This is a fascinating and unusual book as it looks at Jesus through the eyes of those who met him. The nineteen chapters are all relatively short and can each be read in 10–15 minutes. The nature of this book means that there has to be some speculation, as the author tries to put himself into the shoes of those who met Jesus.
The book covers the encounters Jesus had with John the Baptist, Zacchaeus, Judas Iscariot, and many more well-known characters. Some of these individuals whose names we do not know, like the thief on the cross, are given names, which adds to the interest of the well-researched book.
This is a refreshing way to introduce people to Jesus. It is especially useful for unbelievers and new Christians alike. However, for this reviewer, the speculation –– although interesting and feasible –– remains speculation and therefore it does take away slightly from the book.
At the end of every chapter this is a useful ‘Think it through’ section for further study, reflection, or discussion.
