Dealing With Depression – Trusting God through the dark times

Sarah Collins and Jayne Hayes

Christian Focus Publications

4 stars

This book is written to help those who are coping with depression or those counselling or helping people facing depression of various kinds. The authors clearly write from a wide understanding of depression. Sarah Collins has been a student worker for St. Ebbes, Oxford and is now a full time mother and Jane Hayes is a doctor.

This book does not pretend to be the final word on a very challenging condition-it is comparatively short-but it is a sane and helpful word on an illness that most of us will meet either personally, or in the course of ministry, or in helping other Christian believers. It is thoroughly Bible based and deals clearly with the often held foolish view that Christians should never suffer from depression.

I found it thoroughly helpful in every way with a number of testimonies from different people who have been through dark times in personal experience. I warmly endorse what Jonathan Prime The Pastor of Enfield Evangelical Church has written about this book ‘Sensitive, informative, insightful, biblical, pastoral and practical – this book will be of help both to those who experience depression and those seeking to help those suffering from depression’
