Induction – Hitchin Grace Baptist welcomes pastor

Hitchin Grace Baptist Church welcomed its new pastor Tom Forryan at a service attended by 200 people, in the Priory School, Hitchin, on 13 October 2018. Ashkan Sarmadi, current pastor of Derby Road Baptist Church (DRBC), Watford, commended Tom’s previous ministry as former pastor at DRBC and as a worker with Grace Baptist Mission in Paris. Elder Richard Lambert explained the challenges of the church’s three-year search for a pastor, in particular a ‘somewhat sombre’ evening gathering of church officers in January, when they seemed to be out of options. But, in the providence of God, it was just a couple of days later that...

Induction – Welcoming service at Bentley

On 25 July 2018, members and friends of Bentley Reformed Baptist Church gathered for a special service to formally recognise Mr Craig Whale as pastor. Pastor Michael Harley, of Friston Baptist Church, Suffolk, was kind enough to come and conduct the service, which was held at 7.30pm on a very warm evening. The surrounding village will have heard, through the open doors and windows, the hearty singing of the nearly 40 brethren and sisters who packed the tiny chapel building on the corner of Bentley, Suffolk. The members of the church are thrilled to be able now to call their minister of several years, ‘pastor’....

Ordination – Induction at Poolewe & Aultbea

After nearly four years without a minister, the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) congregation of Poolewe & Aultbea praised God for the ordination and induction of Rev. Murdo Maciver. The service took place on the evening of Friday 13 April at the Gairloch Community Centre. Nearly 200 people gathered from a wide area to join with the congregation and Inverness presbytery on the happy occasion. The service was led by Rev. James Clark, Greyfriars, Inverness, who preached from Acts 20:28. Afterwards, the customary questions were put to Mr Maciver and he duly signed The Formula. The new minister was addressed by Rev. Induction – Otford welcomes new minister

On 27 January, approximately 250 people from 38 different churches and organisations met at St Nicholas Church, Sevenoaks, Kent, to celebrate the induction of Kevin Bracken as pastor of Otford Evangelical Free Church (OEFC) and give thanks to God. Rodney Lissenden, church secretary and a deacon of OEFC, introduced proceedings by thanking all the preachers who have faithfully supported the church during ten years without a pastor. Thanks were particularly given to Hayes Lane Baptist Church (HLBC), Bromley, for their ongoing support. Special gratitude was also expressed to St Nicholas Church for hosting the event (due to a lack of seating space at OEFC). Eddie...

Induction – New pastor for Jubilee

On Sunday 15 October 2017, the induction took place of Joe Bannister to the pastorate at Jubilee Baptist Church, Occold, in Suffolk. More than 200 people gathered in Occold village hall, where space was at a premium and some had no choice but to stand. It was a gorgeously warm autumnal day, so the patio doors could be opened, allowing worshippers outside the building to feel included as well. The service was chaired by David Steere, who has been a great help as moderator to first Grove Evangelical Church and then Jubilee Baptist Church (JBC) in the village over many years. David also conducted the...

Inductions – Haworth induction

November 2017 saw the induction of a new pastor at Hall Green Baptist Church in Haworth, West Yorkshire. Paul Lintott, who has pastored churches in Hartlepool and Fressingfield, has joined four other elders — including previous pastor Mick Lockwood — and three deacons, to head up the team. The congregation at Haworth was joined by brothers and sisters from Hartlepool, Fressingfield and a dozen local churches. Such warmth and evidence of prayer for the work in Haworth is a great encouragement. David Campbell from Preston spoke helpfully to us about the importance and privilege of being a pastor, before we enjoyed pie and peas together....

Inductions – New pastor for Fryerns

Fryerns Baptist Church (FBC) was founded in 1953 as a result of the faithful pioneering work of Charles Phillimore, in Basildon, Essex. On 9 September 2017, the chapel in Basildon welcomed more than 200 people from across the UK. The wait for a pastor had been long, but the sweetness of God’s providence made the wait all worthwhile for this Reformed Baptist church. There was a sense of anticipation. A team from London had hired a coach; sister churches from Essex had sent representatives; a couple had travelled from Northern Ireland; and former members and well-wishers drove from Southend, Cambridge, Hastings, Kent and the farming...

Induction – Welcome Hall welcomes evangelist

On Saturday 9 September, more than 150 people gathered for the induction of Peter Sherwood as evangelist at Welcome Hall Evangelical Church (WHEC), Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. The weekend also marked the church’s 78th anniversary and 5th anniversary of Jeremy Brooks’ pastorate. Speaking on behalf of WHEC, Pastor Brooks explained how the elders had been seeking the Lord’s will over the appointment of a second full-time worker for more than a year, and were increasingly convinced the role should be that of an evangelist. In March, Peter Sherwood was put in touch with Pastor Brooks by a mutual contact and was called by WHEC in July. Peter...

A new chapter began for Emmanuel Church, Leamington Spa, with the induction of their pastor James Midwinter, on Saturday 9 September.
