Conference – Reformation and Revival Fellowship

February 2016 | by Roger Hitchings

Outstanding ministry, delightful biographical accounts, earnest prayer, warm fellowship and good food: such was the fare at Swanwick in Derbyshire for November 2015’s conference.

Dr Joel Beeke, Geoff Thomas and Wyn Hughes ministered to more than 120 people from many different parts of the country. Dr Beeke presented Christ to us as he spoke on ‘Our altogether lovely Saviour’. He unfolded to us the beauty of the Saviour, as Christ promised (Genesis 3:15), Christ forsaken (Matthew 27:46), Christ risen (1 Corinthians 15:20), and Christ married (Revelation 19:6-9).

Geoff Thomas has a warm style of recounting the Lord’s dealings in the lives of his people. Two brief pictures were given to us of ladies who had proved the power of the gospel in the past 20 years.

Eva Milton Turner is not well known, but her faithfulness in prayer and love for a nephew, who became her son and went on to serve God, was profoundly encouraging and challenging. Rosaria Champagne Butterfield is quite well known, but the marvel of grace and wisdom of a godly pastor’s wife were set before us.

Prayer played a major part in this conference’s activities. The evening time of corporate prayer was wonderful as more than 100 people sought our prayer-answering God together.

‘Keep on keeping on’ was the theme of the closing sermon, brought to us by Wyn Hughes. It was not an easy assignment to conclude the conference, but the Lord was there as the Word was preached, and everyone was sent home uplifted, challenged and encouraged. (Recordings:

The speakers at the 2016 conference on 14-16 November are Rupert Bentley-Taylor, Ian Parry and Simon Clarke.
