Hayes ladies’ day

Hayes Town Chapel held a ladies’ day on Saturday 26 January. They were joined by friends from ten other churches.

The conference speaker was Sharon James from Leamington Spa, who spoke on ‘Being a godly woman today’. She began from Psalm 27, looking at the temptation to seek ultimate satisfaction through pleasure, material things and relationships.

We were exhorted to be good stewards of our talents, money and time; and spurred on to ‘store up treasures in heaven’ and live in dependence on God.

After lunch, this talk was discussed in groups and the discussion related back to the whole floor by one representative from each group. Sharon commented on the points raised.

The second address was ‘Maintaining our devotional life’ and was based on Psalm 63. We need to realise our barrenness without God, and seek him earnestly – to praise and delight in him, and meditate and rely on him.

We give thanks for this day, when we were encouraged and challenged by the Word of God; and refreshed by having fellowship with other believers.
