1687 – Ordination & Marriage

Having completed his studies Matthew was ordained on May 9, 1687, and he preached his first sermon at Nantwich. He then moved to Chester to become minister of a congregation who met in the Presbyterian  Chapel in Trinity Street. Later that year he married Katherine who died of smallpox. They had one daughter. He later married Mary and they had nine children.
