1974 – To Retirement

In 1974 John founded the Langham Partnership International and in 1982 he also founded the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity of which he remained honorary President until his death.

In 2006 he was awarded a CBE, and in 2007 he retired from public ministry and went to live at the College of St Barnabas, Lingfield which is a retirement community for Anglican clergy, though he did remain Rector Emeritus of All Souls.
