Timeline Event



In May 1873, David Livingstone’s servants found him dead, kneeling at his bed as if in prayer, in Chitambo, Zambia. After his viscera were removed and buried in Africa, his body was transported to the coast and from there to England where it was buried in Westminster Abbey on 18 April 1874.
