Afflicted with a combination of rheumatism, gout and Bright’s disease towards the end of his life, Spurgeon passed away in Menton, France. He often visited this location to recuperate. He was buried at West Norwood Cemetery in London. A marble Bible is open to the words of 2 Timothy 4:7 – ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.’
