Edward VI, Henry VIIIs only son, was crowned king at the age of 9, but died at the age of 15. He was a gifted young man and convinced evangelical, who, despite his short life, has impacted our national life down to modern times.

In 1863, Bonar edited a collection of Samuel Rutherford's letters and published it with a brief biographical sketch. The collection is still widely circulated today.
