Goes into hiding in Angoulême, southern France

Calvin had shown sympathy with the views of Nicholas Cop, rector of a Parisian college. Cop had drawn allegations of heresy for his reformist views and criticisms of Roman Catholicism. Calvin devoted time to reading and study in Angoulême: it has been called the forge where Calvin hammered out the beginnings of the theology he would present in his magnum opus: Institutes of the Christian Religion.
