Heart of Africa Mission


Some time after returning to England in 1906, Studd met German missionary Karl Kumm and learned about the African mission frontier. He felt a call to minister in Africa, but in poor health, he was opposed by his mission board and personal physician. So in 1908, the Studds formed their own missionary society, Heart of Africa Mission, and two years later Studd sailed to Africa, leaving his wife and daughters behind to manage the mission.
