Jesus’s crucifixion

The death by crucifixion of Jesus Christ occurred during the Jewish feast of Passover around 30 AD in Jerusalem, and is recorded in the four Gospels (Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, and John 19). The observed details of his death and the act itself fulfilled prophecies of the Old Testament (Isaiah 53, et al) and of Jesus (Matthew 20:28, et al) that the Messiah would suffer and die as an atonement for God’s people, bringing about the consummation of the Law and Prophets and the institution of God’s New Covenant with his people (Hebrews 8:8-12, Luke 22:20).
