1943

Graham married Ruth Bell (1920–2007) on 13 August 1943 shortly after they both graduated from Wheaton. Ruth had been born and grew up in China the daughter of medical missionaries, finishing school in North Carolina while her parents were on furlough before enrolling at Wheaton College. The Grahams had five children together. In addition to being a wife and a mother, Ruth was an author and artist. Her companionship and advice were vital to Billy’s evangelistic ministry.
