Owen preached several times in the House of Commons. He greatly impressed Oliver Cromwell, who persuaded Owen to accompany him as chaplain to Ireland to regulate the affairs of Trinity College in Dublin.
Arthur Walkington Pink was born to a corn-merchant's family in Nottingham on 1 April 1886. His father was a devout non-conformist, probably a Congregationalist.
