Rededication

1884

Having spent six years since his conversion living for cricket, Charles was confronted by his brother George’s serious illness with his coldness towards God. He realised he had been in an ‘unhappy, backslidden state’, and decided he wanted to live for eternity. Subsequently, he joined a group of Cambridge athletes who studied the Bible and prayed together, and, meeting Hudson Taylor, he was inspired to dedicate himself to missionary work.
