A woman was arrested by police in Birmingham in December because she was standing on the public street silently praying in her head.

Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, 45, was standing near an abortion centre, but the facility was closed at the time.

The incident was captured on video and the recording has since gone viral on social media.

Vaughan-Spruce has been charged with ‘protesting and engaging in an act that is intimidating to service users’.

The video shows Vaughan-Spruce being searched and arrested after being asked, ‘Are you praying?’ by three police officers.

Jeremiah Igunnubole, legal counsel for ADF UK, said, ‘Nobody should be arrested because of their silent thoughts.
