Calls to introduce broader laws against ‘extremism’ could catch ordinary Christian beliefs, says Colin Hart of The Christian Institute.

The issue has come to the fore after a rise in antisemitic attacks in the UK linked to the conflict between Israel and Gaza.

The government wants to give police more powers to clamp down on such ‘extremism’, but The Christian Institute’s Colin Hart is worried about the unintended consequences of a broader definition.

He said, ‘In recent weeks we’ve seen anti-Semitic incidents across the UK that many, including Christians, believe have no place in our society. Hamas’s terrorist atrocities were celebrated on our streets within hours.
