New pastors

Bryn-y-groes in Bala, Wales, played host once again to the Evangelical Movement of Wales’ New Pastors’ Conference, from 28-30 November 2011.
One delegate wrote: ‘When I was sent notification of this conference, I was immediately interested. The subject matter was centred upon “But God looks at the heart”. The aim was to bring us before the sovereign God, so that we could love the Lord and the truths of his character, and minister him to ourselves and others. We were not disappointed.
‘Paul Mallard drew our attention to Psalms 19, 90 and Ephesians 3:14-21. These addresses were rich in our need to love the Word of God and find Christ in it.
‘There was ministry from Stuart Olyott, Doug McMasters, Phil Swann, Maurice Kinnaird, Sulwyn Jones and Mark Thomas. Also, practical seminars were held, in which issues concerning the life of the pastor and church life were discussed.
‘A practical question time was helpful in chewing over these issues. It was a great opportunity to learn from the senior ministers as they answered questions. The fellowship was sweet; the food wonderful, the table tennis excellent — and the late-night kebab filling!
‘Please pray that this conference would have been for God’s glory and that fruit would be the result. Pray for and support your pastor.
‘Also, those who attended will, no doubt, support my desire to thank those who organised and taught us over these few, precious days. We need to develop a ministry of gratitude towards those who love, serve and mentor us, and work for the glory of God.’
