A court in Nigeria has allowed the blasphemy prosecution of a Christian woman to proceed, despite international lawyers saying the case should be dismissed.

Rhoda Jatau is a Christian and mother of five who has been imprisoned since May 2022 for allegedly committing the offence of ‘blasphemy’.

She is accused of sharing a video on WhatsApp condemning the lynching of Deborah Emmanuel Yakubu, a Nigerian university student.

Yakubu was murdered and set on fire by a mob of her classmates in May 2022 for sharing her Christian faith.
