In this latest booklet, John Blanchard brings us face to face with the great taboo subject of modern times – death. Beginning with the arresting account of Joseph Stalin’s end, the author highlights the inescapable reality that faces everyone, great or small. ‘The only sane approach’, says Blanchard, ‘is to face it honestly, examine it carefully and prepare for it wisely.’

In doing just that, the author deals with four common theories that are circulating in society today – ‘Who knows?’ asks the agnostic; ‘It’s the end’, claims the atheist; ‘Everybody gets home’, says the universalist; ‘We’ll be recycled’, asserts the New Ager.

Having exposed the inadequacies of these man-made views, the booklet turns to a biblical definition of death and its implications for the body and soul – especially in the light of the return of Christ and his ultimate judgement of all mankind.

The biblical idea of hell as the final destiny of the unrighteous is explained before the ‘escape route’ is presented. The booklet closes with an appeal to the reader to ‘escape’ through trusting in Christ and in him alone.

Once again John Blanchard has provided the church with a concise, readable, biblically accurate resource which will help us answer this inescapable question: ‘Where do we go from here?’
