Faith organisations have sent an open letter to US Senate leaders, stressing the importance of recognising international religious freedom.

In April, 113 organisations affiliated with the International Religious Freedom Roundtable wrote to senators including majority leader Chuck Schumer, minority leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate foreign relations committee chairman Ben Cardin.

In the letter, they stressed how vital it was to adopt proposed Senate Resolution 569, which recognises the importance of international religious freedom.

The eight-page letter, seen by Evangelical Times, said that passing the resolution would be ‘expressing support for international religious freedom as a cornerstone of United States foreign policy, and expressing concern over increased threats to and attacks on religious freedom around the world’.
