Skye open-air witness

August 2015 | by Raymond Kemp

Skye open air witnessThe Free Church (Continuing) presbytery of Skye and Lochcarron started up its summer season of open-air preaching and tract distribution in Portree Square, at the end of May.

Before the mission activity started, there was a prayer meeting at 2.30pm, when those engaged in prayer sought the Spirit of the Lord to go before and bless his Word to any with whom contact was made.

An array of gospel literature in many languages, as well as English, was given to helpers to distribute and converse with the many tourists and locals visiting the Isle of Skye on holiday.

A service began at 3.00pm with the singing of Psalm 100 and prayer. Local ministers, Revs Murdo Macleod of Snizort, Raymond Kemp of Staffin and Richard Ross of Portree preached from various Scripture passages.

Members from the congregations of Portree, Snizort, Staffin and Waternish helped to distribute literature and engage with men and women about their never-dying souls. There were many listeners and some good conversations were had.
